For about a year now I've been attempting to write a script, which I am reluctantly calling a sitcom. It's about a man, Christopher who gets diagnosed with cancer, (I know 'HAHAHAHA MEGALOLZ!!!', right?).
Here's a scene from the third episode:
TITLE
1: INT: HOSPITAL, DAY
CHRISTOPHER is sat in a brightly lit chemotherpy suite. There are about six other patients all hooked up to the drugs and two nurses walking around. Jenny is sat beside him reading a magazine.
JENNY
I’m bored. Are you bored?
CHRISTOPHER
I suppose so. You don’t have to be here
if you don’t want to.
JENNY
No it’s fine...(she flips through some
pages of her magazine, it’s something like
‘Heat’ or ‘Now’)... You wanna play ‘Do or Die’?
CHRISTOPHER
What’s ‘Do or Die’?
JENNY
I pick people out of this magazine and you
have to tell me if you’d rather have sex with
them or die.
The patient sat behind Jenny and his wife over hears and looks over frowning. They catch Christopher’s eye, Christopher gives a sheepish smile.
JENNY
So... do or die? (She holds up a picture of
Jordan)
CHRISTOPHER
Do, I suppose.
JENNY
Really? Hm, I didn’t think she was your type.
CHRISTOPHER
She’s not but if... nevermind.
A male nurse, SEB, comes up to them, he is tall and good looking.
SEB
Hi Chris, how are you holding up?
Jenny looks up from her magazine and does a double take. She readjusts herself and sits up straight, smiling broadly.
CHRISTOPHER
Not bad thanks just...
JENNY
(Sticking out her hand across Christopher)
Hi, I’m Jenny.
SEB
(Shaking Jenny’s hand) Hi, I’m Seb...So how
long have you two been together?
CHRISTOPHER
We’re not together.
JENNY
No just friends. Just friends...I’m single
SEB
Right...(he looks at the monitor) Well
you’re doing great Chris, not much longer.
Can I get you anything?
CHRISTOPHER
No I’m fine.
JENNY
Are you sure you don’t need Seb to get you
anything and bring it back here?
CHRISTOPHER
Nope. I’m fine.
Christopher smiles broadly at Seb then at Jenny.
SEB
Ok. I’ll be back when you’re all done. Nice to
meet you Jenny
JENNY
Yes, you too.
Seb walks away. Jenny watches him and leans over to see him leave the room.
CHRISTOPHER
You’re ridiculous.
JENNY
What? (She opens up the magazine. Then closes
it again) Do you think I should ask him out?
CHRISTOPHER
Wouldn’t it be a bit, I dunno, unethical?
JENNY
Why? I’m not the one with cancer. (She
opens up the magazine again)
CHRISTOPHER
Luckily, eh?
JENNY
(Not looking up from the magazine) Tell
me about it... Do or die? (She holds up
a picture of Bruce Forsyth)
